Canvas Curtain Fastener Kit, with NOS Jeep Fasteners

Post by Farrell Fox » Sat May 12, 2018 7:44 pm

NOTHING FOR SALE AT THIS TIME

Found this kit on my local Craigslist. It's a canvas curtain fastener kit with surprisingly a lot of NOS Jeep fasteners. This is the first time I've stumbled across NOS door sockets. The kit itself is incomplete according to the diagram, however it's been refilled with the good stuff. Unfortunately it's missing some of the cutting and setting tools, and the cinch fastener caps were not included in this kit. Some of these fasteners I've never seen before and have no clue what they'd go to.

Very nice find Farrell, Do you think it is a wartime set or later ?

Can you add a close up of the tool pictures as it may lead to some being found ?

Great find, Farrell!

I have seen several of these sets now... most pretty used up.

The inside of the box looks in good condition with the item descriptions still sharp.

What does the outside of the box look like?

I have a faint memory of a similar kit posted on the gee years ago. Definitely a wonderful grab, Farrell!

It was either AZ Jeff's (empty), posted here in 2013, or Robin’s (partially stocked), posted here in 2011, or both! :)

Why am I reviving a year old thread to answer?

Because I just found something similar.

I obtained two (2) of these kits about 40 years ago, they are a wonderful kit and the tools are all there.
Mine came from Lawrence Nabholtz, I used to visit with him several times a year and he had some great gear.
The original fasteners were an excellent guide for the fittings we manufacture under. M.V. Spares.

I found another fastener kit. This one came with more or less of the same fasteners as my first kit, however this one came with nearly all of the setting tools. The ones most valuable to me are the ones for the canvas door curtain fasteners. I've been after an original set for years, and this kit had both the fastener and door setting tools.
