Re: Lug Nut Wrench
And the way it is posted in SNL G-658 Ford Master Parts list, it is just a reference to the Willys equivalent. The 41-W-3837-25 and -55 dimensions are different. The Wheel nuts for MB thru M-38A1 are all 3/4". There is no need to lose any sleep over 41W spec, am sure it eill surface some day, GPW-17035's the name of the game, happy hunting.

Re: Lug Nut Wrench
Hi Greg....
I guess we can get some feedback from guys who have the WO-348 LW and the Ford equivalent and compare them to the "25" and the "55". I totally agree with you that some variance in the opening is possible, otherwise paint and nicks to the lug nuts would make it impossible to fit the LW onto them. So, here goes:
WO wrench drawing #1 calls for 49/64" and this is the version with the slightly greater than a 90* bend. That translates to .7656"
WO wrench drawing #2 calls for 25/32" and this is the version with the 90* bend. That translates to .78125"
I do not have the Ford drawing to refer to, but my original Ford LW measures as follows:
First set of flats: .758"
Second set of flats: .760"
Third set of flats: .761"
So, can some kind soul take three measurements of the hex opening in a "25" and a "55" to see what they are?

Re: Lug Nut Wrench
Here are Hex size for 41-W-3837-25 from three different manuals for MB, M-38, and M-38A1.
1. -33/64"
2.-3/4"
3.-3/4"
They re all greater than the 3/4" Hex on the A-475/A-476 Wheel Nuts. The 41-W-3837 Wrench is a looser fit than the -25.

Re: Lug Nut Wrench
It might be a tad difficult to fit a 33/64" LW on a 3/4" lug nut.....being as how 33/64" is just ONE SIXTY-FOURTH larger than 1/2" don't you think?
However, I am not really interested just YET in what the manuals say, I'm interested in three measurements for the three sets of flats the hex opening on a "25" and a "55" have.

Re: Lug Nut Wrench
As I said upthread, I would expect so, otherwise the technical panels working for the Treasury Dept would not have bothered giving them different stock numbers in the Federal Standard Stock Catalog. If you (or anyone else!) have at least one of each, measure the I.D. of the hex and report the measurements. If you have more than one of each, which would be ideal, measure all of them and report all the diameters.
Exactly. I don't have any originals or replacements to contribute measurements. But I'll be eager to see the results of a good sample size.Chuck Lutz wrote: ↑Wed May 16, 2018 9:59 amI guess we can get some feedback from guys who have the WO-348 LW and the Ford equivalent and compare them to the "25" and the "55".

Re: Lug Nut Wrench
Phil....is your Ford wrench the kind with the 90* angle on it or the other, maybe 115* or so angle?
