For a moment I thought that a drain plug wrench had been welded to the lid!

Would these have been issued for use with the M-1950 single burner stoves?

Joel....

I had a one qt. OD gas can that had sort of pour spout permanently attached to the opening you pivoted out to pour from and when done, you rotated back 180* away from the edge. I think that one would have been a better option for a WWII lantern or stove. I know they came with a small funnel, but that pour spout would have been perfect to get the fuel going into the funnel. It had something about FUEL painted on it in yellow but I do not recall if it had any stampings on the bottom like this one did...I don't believe it did.
