Vintage socket set WW2?

Post by winchman » Wed Apr 11, 2018 7:02 am

Hello
I was sent here buy the HMVF.
My son collects vintage Britool tools.
http://www.historywebsite.co.uk/Museum/ ... ritool.htm
He started with just socket sets mainly pre 80's but now collects any old Britool, but he mainly has 60's stuff.
He had no Hex drive but has now bought a hex drive set as he had never seen one before.
We wondered if any one recognised it?
Its marked war finish and is unusual as its in a green box with a Circle for the sticker / badge instead of the usual oval, it has clips in side to keep some of the bits secure.

Welcome along winchman, I would think they are possibly pre/early war which is when hex drive was popular. I have a King Dick set in a very similar style box and finish although they are not marked War Finish. Most but not all sockets are marked with a broad arrow but unusually they are undated which makes me think early war. Late war British tools have a much more American look.

A small update.
He has just purchased a very small hex set that has the same round indentation for the label / badge but this one still has a round Britool label which we have never seen before?
