I have a limited number of Ink stamped IRWIN screwdrivers.
While I am not ready to sell them separately, I am willing to put one in the Willys and Ford toolkits I have posted for sale, at extra cost.

That is the worst way to put it, but yes, WhankII, although the last word has not been said the IRWIN stamped on metal are most likely not correct.
However, the vast majority of toolkits on vehicles entered for judgement do NOT have the ink stamped Irwins in their toolkit.

What is included in my kits is clearly detailed, and when needed the perspective buyer can ask for extra pictures.
All of my toolkits are very friendly priced, and so far not one of the many worldwide customers was less than very satisfied.

Yes, at times I refuse to sell if for any reason I do not like the guy.The list is not long, but from time to time I do add a name.

There is absolutely no doubt that an Ink stamped version is preferred so I would use that one if you have one available. If not most of us have used a shank stamped Irwin as a placeholder. Or maybe you could use a Federal or Lenox instead. If you happen to have a Fairmount driver I'd gladly trade you an ink stamped Irwin for it.

Luca and others who do sell tool kits price them according to their cost and should make a few bucks if they do. With that in mind, as we exchange a "placeholder" for something with more provenance that we had to pay more for in the first place, the cost of that kit goes up. Which is what he is offering to do if you want to sub in a beautiful ink-stamped IRWIN for the less desirable shank-stamped.

Good Luck with the hunt to fill out your kit...start from scratch with ONE item or purchase as many original ones as you can and go from there. I think settling for a motorpool kit and filling it out to factory kit specs will take you years/big dollars. The cost of chains comes to mind here, not to mention the Spares Kit!

Wow Luca!
That is a nice sight - 3 Ink stamp drivers next to each other.
For the prospective buyer - The ink stamp screw drivers are very hard to find. I’ve been trying to put together a factory kit for the good part of 8 years and have come far with the help of collectors like Luca, Phil and Greg. During all these years searching, I have only once come across a decent ink stamp screwdriver which I immediately grabbed.
Luca’s offer to include one is something I would strongly consider if I was contemplating on buying one of his fine kits!

Corrrect.... The ink stamped Irwins are EXTREMELY hard to find in ANY condition....Having 3 is a major feat.....The shank stamped type is generally acceptable as a second choice.....

I mostly agree with Hugh but my preference would be to have a screwdriver that is likely a correct ink marked version with the marking worn off rather than a shank stamped screwdriver. I occasionally run across them and have removed the handles to find markings consistent with the ink marked versions. The (slightly) ink marked example below came from the Jones family.

Don, I know you are looking for one with a better ink stamp but it was all I could do to bring myself to let go of that one. I think it has great patina and looks great in you set.

If we are going to hope for the perfect Ink stamped Irwin this one may be one of the best examples. In my opinion the perfect Ink stamped Irwin to put in your onboard toolkit or GMTK for that matter is one with an unfinished shank.

What is wrong with a federal ink stamped screwdriver?

Tony, there is nothing wrong with a ink stamped Federal driver. Federal is a verified supplier of screwdrivers to Willys. Lenox and Fairmount were as well.

I have had to "settle" for an Irwin with a faded ink stamp on it for my kit. I just have not run across the crisp, clear marked ones as seen in Luca's pic of three of them above. If you look at them closely, I think you will see they were lacquer dipped or with something like that.
