Thanks Don. That's only the second pair I've found. Been looking for another pair ever since the first pair went on permanent vacation to sunny CA.

My wife and I went to an estate sale yesterday in Oakland and picked up quite a few WW2 vintage tools. Here are some pictures.

Some good looking finds, Don.
I’ve never found an el handle in the wild. Great catch! And the ultra rare file card with pick!

Warm here today but rain all weekend. Calling for snow on Monday! :x If it ever warms up and stays dry, I’ll be good to go here!

Plomb 19/32" socket, well used punch, and (not pictured, drag link bit)
Fairmount 'sharp' 27-C DOE with 'A' forge code

I visited the local recycling yard yesterday and came home with this '51 and '52 dated Radio Steel and M.C.C. stamped fuel can. Leftover parts that were used a year later?

Dropped some more aluminum cans off at the recycling yard yesterday. I've got the guy there pulling out any fuel cans he finds for me. Well, he found another one and boy, was it roached bad. He seemed so happy to have found another one for me, that I couldn't leave it behind. $2 worth of aluminum and $4 for the fuel can put this guy at $2, so, not breaking the bank.

Even though it was pretty roached, it still seemed surprisingly solid. It'll get a bath in the electrolysis tank, but I hit it hard with the wire wheel and it came out looking much better!

Before... why did I bring it home!?!

Image

After. Much better! '51 dated Radio Steel just like the last one.
