Though it hadn't occurred to me Greg's suggestion of keeping the Horseshoe with the bag I found it in was a great idea and it definitely adds a unique quality to the set. The horseshoe appears to have never been used. Thanks Greg.

Phil,

There's an old superstition that says you have to hang that horseshoe with the tips up otherwise the luck runs out.

Thank you,
Henry

I've heard this before as well. However, when the case is closed and you're carrying the box, the ends would be pointed up... so...

Also, how cool is it that the horseshoe is a <DIAMOND> Brand! You should put some other Diamond made stuff in there too!

Wonderful set Phil! Thought I'd remind you of this posting with a similar box ... $500 but I don't think it sold:

Anderson, the company that made that box, is still in business in Louisville.

A couple of more pieces for my set. I'll have to look closer but I think they complete the set. Greg, sorry just saw your post about the wire puller. Cliff and Nirvana thanks for the additional info. I found a 40's era 3 cell light and a wire puller (though to be honest I suspect its 50 ft rather than 100ft).

That is for certain a plumbers snake.
I would suggest he wash his hands then...

I may have the correct fish tape. Somewhere in my stuff is a steel cased fish tape. Similar in design to the modern plastic cases that are made up of two pieces clam shelled around the tape. Except this is steel. No handle. Just a clamshell donut with the tape sticking out. I've never really messed with it. Have to find it and check it out.

That is what the end looks like for pulling wires. Once it breaks we form new ones but it is usually just a bent over end with out the little doubled piece. Some early old ones had the end just flat and tapered with 1 hole or maybe 2-3 drilled in so you could put the wire through and bend it over. Same thing though they would break and then just made a bent end.

Steve, here is a couple of photos of the end. What do you think? For a couple of bucks I thought it was worth picking it up.

Well it is interesting. How wide is the tape? I can't think of anything else it can do but pull wire.
