Here's a pic of my misc. collection of Chrome Alloy midget sockets. Let me know if you're missing any of these.

Re: My 2018 Flea Finds
Thanks, mud. Not that I'm conducting a character study or anything, but compare that to someone on the west coast with a 42 jeep who shall remain anonymous who sent me a pic of the SK-made CHROME ALLOY beavertail ratchet that goes with these sets and the following message...
someone on the west coast with a 42 jeep who shall remain anonymous wrote:You can just send me the set and I’ll take care of the ratchet!
I could use the 5/16" 12-point and the 7/16" 12-point if you don't mind breaking up your partial set. I'll PM you soon to talk trades.

Wow, Wingnutt,
I can’t imagine anybody saying something like that. Of course if I did have a set of those prewar 1/4” Chrome Alloy sockets by S-K (which I don’t) they would probably look a little like this.

Don, well it's a good thing you don't have a set like that.

Snerk. Is that a crossbar with the end knurled? Dang. That might be harder to find than the ratchet! I'll keep looking for a ratchet and crossbar and you keep looking for a case and sockets and one of us might get tired of looking eventually.

Re: My 2018 Flea Finds
I have a couple of Lectrolite tappet wrenches. One has perfectly normal markings but the other is marked just like yours. There must be some significance to it but I have no idea what it is.Wingnutt wrote: ↑Sun Apr 01, 2018 6:31 amHere are some close-ups of a few of the more interesting tools from yesterday...

The Lectrolite tappet wrench with cadmium plating residue and the strang markings. If that ".05" is a compositional percentage amount of Cr and V, as AA claims, it's a whole magnitude less than the MINIMUM amount of Cr allowed after restrictions (which was 0.6%), and half the amount of Vanadium (0.1%) that was put in pre-war AISI Chrome-Vanadium formulas. ??

Re: My 2018 Flea Finds
I won’t be able to make it out to the flea market today, so I’m going to play some quick catch-up…
Friday:
The only wartime piece in this lot is the Snap-on crows foot attachment (1-3/8")
Other tools, for the curious, include a Plomb waterpump wrench (1940), Bonney B6 U.S.A. pliers (postwar), unbranded Plomb Empire MFD. U.S.A. DOE 723 wrench J.P. Danielson marked H.11.0. (1950), an IHC tractor wrench (1920’s), and Vaughan & Bushnell pliers (1920’s).
Saturday:
The wartime pieces include a TRIMO "USN" pipe wrench, a few 1/2-inch drive sockets (Snap-on, Duro, Wright, and Thorsen), a Plomb-made but unbranded spark plug socket marked with the FSN (41-W-3328), some Duro 3/8-inch drive pieces (incl the first “-D-I-” I have ever found) and a mess of 1/4-inch drive Plomb.
Other tools, for the curious, are the 6-way oil tank bung wrench, an antique era Williams S wrench, a decent start to a postwar Williams U.S.A. NM- series midget set, and some 1/2-inch drive sockets (Blackhawk O16, Snap-on, mystery brand).

Re: My 2018 Flea Finds
All nice, but that WRIGHT Universal is drool worthy . Seems to be a fair amount of Wright tools in my area; perhaps because this use to be a large aviation/industrial machining region?

Re: My 2018 Flea Finds
It is nice. Did you see note that the "U.S." stamp is extra? It has the standard "U.S.A." after the "Barberton, O." in the brand marking. Per our resident Wright expert, mrbill, that seems to be a pattern.

Yes, I didn't want to highlight that stamping, as my jealousy then turns into a formidable rage...
