Unfortunately no idea of what they were supplying to the Army or the Navy although I remember we found evidence in the Defense/victory supplements of orders for automotive Jacks.

Re: Blackhawk as ww2 supplier ?
I found a Hexite 4033 (15/16"-1" open-end spanner) at a flea market today in Austraila.
Thought it may be military, but now I think not. Into the general tool box it goes (unless someone wants it).
Hexite is a brand of Blackhawk.
Sam, downunder.

I picked up a 1945 RAF fitters box. Interestingly it has a conversion chart pinned to the inside lid.
It also has some pencil markings relating to Stirling and Halifax Bombers, they are a bit hard to see in the picture.

Re: Blackhawk as ww2 supplier ?
Calling Roger and Cliff!
We're waaaaaay past the days of wondering if Blackhawk was a bonafide military tools supplier, but that's not why I am reviving this thread!
I bumped into a bloke from the UK on another tools forum asking for info about a 1930's Blackhawk "Chief" socket set that he acquired from "the village mechanic." A few of the handles were consistent with the mid-30's label on the box, but the sockets turned out to be early S-K. The real fun started when he began talking about his grandfather's tools, which included some odd Blackhawk sockets, and he posted these photos.
The middle row in this photo are all those strange Blackhawk British Standard Whitworth sockets with the AF sizes expressed in decimals that I remember you guys finding in onesy-twosies and puzzling over earlier on this thread.
Here are comes close-ups of them...
All of them are marked "BLACKHAWK MADE IN U.S.A." and "U.S. PATS. 1927844 RE. 19287"
Here is an inventory I asked for by part number and size markings, and he cleverly included the fasteners the sockets fit!
W52N .525 1/4W 5/16BS
W60N .600 5/16W 3/8BS
W71N .710 3/8W 7/16BS
W82N .820 7/16W 1/2 BS
W92N .920 1/2W 9/16BS

W120N 1.200 11/16W 3/4BS

Re: Blackhawk as ww2 supplier ?
I very seldom see any Blackhawk tools, let alone from the WWII era, but just recently I've assembled a number of sockets and a 1944 dated 49996 "Free Wheeling" ratchet like the one in the Blackhawk Master Mechanic Wrench Set 100W, 41-W-2613-500 thread.
So, aside from the missing the 25/32", 7/8", 15/16", 1", and 1-1/8" to make up the set - and the speeder, extensions, breaker, and wrenches - I almost have enough to make a Blackhawk-themed GMTK!
Just to show how these things seem to go in streaks, I also picked this 9810 (mid-1930s precursor to the 49996) this week.
