Post by Leatherneck 17 » Fri Dec 30, 2005 5:44 am

Guys Happy new years to you all...quick question please....

I am about to fit my air deflector to the hood and was wonderng what is the correct way round to mount it please

also what is the size of the 6 screws/ nuts that hold it on.

and approx what month/ year did the deflector get phased out ? as i was wondering should my 42MB (Dod 31-03-42) have one?

Thanks all

Kindest regards

Hello Lloyd

I am not sure on the hardware ( should be in the part manual). I believe the hood air deflector was used from 11/41 till mid Jan. 44.

The deflector fits with the angle toward the front... so you can see the nuts from the front.

Just saw this in an unrelated search and thought i`d ask.

Quite a few slat grill guys have said to me their hood deflectors have been fitted with a pan/binding head screw, not a round head screw. Several have been on unrestored vehicles.

Is this a known thing and i`ve missed it?(!) Is there a change over? I`ve seen lots of later 42 and 43 MB's with round head screws, and the GPW's fitted with a Willys hood using pan head screws.

Wondering what MB 131175 might have used, given it is not too far after the 'slat grill' phase.

Thanks, Ian.

Screws on MB II0247, d.o.d. jan 8 1942. Never removed from the hood, even during restoration. :D
