Hi Mark,
I'm not very familiar with the MB's but tell me what would be interesting to analyze:).
I believe that there is no matching criteria in the MB world.

Here are other stats related to all vehicles registered in the Database vs the war production figures.
In the database:

War production figures:(figures from R. Cowdery)

Bizarre. There are less Willys MB registered in the G503 DB than GPW's although more MB have been produced during the war.

Great info based on what is available to chart, good job!

Now let me throw in another variable that we will never know. A lot of WWII jeeps will not be counted because of what they have become. Many jeeps are now rock crawlers, and heavily modified that hardly resemble a military jeep. Few I imagine, will be registered on the DB.

@dinof,
Yes sure, we'll never know how many jeeps have survived.
I've a friend who has just bought a jeep and we'll likely never know his jeep data :D .
He is just in love with that historical vehicle :o !

I want only to figure out how the jeeps are distributed in the world and to extract as much as we can from the data.
Having so many jeeps in a DB is a chance.
If the owners are taking the time to enter specific data in a database, it's always interesting to analyze these data and return the results.
(Plate material, serial numbers, DOD, matching jeeps etc ...)

For example, I thought that the data plates material was linked to the war period.
Looking at the graphic, it seems that it is not really the case and I would say that it depends upon the various manufacturing locations.
Perhaps Tom will confirm that the data plate material is linked to the manufacturing plant or to Willys/Ford.

Regarding Ron's nice serial numbers website (with that quite large DB):
I would just suggest to increase the data input assistance and control because you should see what is sometimes entered :)!
We should develop a flowchart to help people to determine the type of jeep they have in front on them, and how to find the requested data.
The GPW Engine serial number is entered many times as 6015, GPW 6015 or GPW 6050  .(casting #)
To help Tom determining the hood #, it would be nice to add a field with a selection between "recovered" or "estimated".

I know that it is not Ron's business, but as as far as I know he has the largest public DB on jeeps.
A good project would be to build up another multilingual website dedicated to that purpose only.
The server could be financed with spare parts seller ads, because the link from that website would be as gold for them.(Google ranking)

Lovely stats ! Thanks for sharing!

I love the idea of having a dedicated site for it. Although my web building skills are pretty rusty now, if ever you need a french translation, I'd be happy to help.

I'll also ask my coworkers, maybe there's a built-in solution somewhere that'd fit that need without too much work.

Yves, the MBs are a bit of a minefield. I found your cake charts very interesting and informative, thanks.

@ Etienne,
I'll leave it to Ron as it is his website and DB :)!
