GPW Engine Serial Number Odd Font
I picked this engine up yesterday and wondered what you guys thought about the stamping for the serial number. Very different font to what I've seen posted on this site.

Nice looking (1942 Oval nonstepped serial number pad ) GPW engine. The serial number was definitely stamped Post factory by someone. Look on the left front of the block by the exhaust manifold for a stamped number ending with an X. That will id the engine as a replacement engine.

Thanks Roger. I'll be with the engine next week and I'll take a look. From this stamp will I be able to determine the date of manufacture?

Look for the date code disc in the engine casting....lower right rear corner of the block.

No stamped number, just the one letter. Any ideas?rjbeamer wrote: ↑Sun Apr 08, 2018 11:11 pmNice looking (1942 Oval nonstepped serial number pad ) GPW engine. Very hard to make out. Here's what I think, 1 on the left, E top center and 11 bottom center.Michael O. wrote: ↑Tue Apr 10, 2018 11:33 amLook for the date code disc in the engine casting....lower right rear corner of the block.
