Need photo of GPW axe and shovel area

Post by Michael O. » Sat Mar 17, 2018 8:17 pm

Does anyone have a good photo showing the factory weld of the two panels that make up the axe and shovel groove on the GPW tub? I forget how far up the panels the weld on this seam runs and I can’t locate any of my photos. Thanks in advance!

Michael,

I sent you some pictures via text. I can't seem to get them to upload to the thread.

Michael...

GPW 17963 4/24/42

I left the shovel and axe mounted because there is so little of the exposed weld visible anyway. Here are three shots for you:

I didn't see any globs of weld below the shovel but I think there will be a similar looking bit of it there.

Thanks guys! I really appreciate your help. The welder is putting the finishing touches on GPW 104111’s tub.

I'd hire the worst welder you can find, or blindfold him to do these welds, they really are ugly on my tub :D
