If for an MB it’s the same screw used on the 6 post junction block. The 2 post junction block screw is the same as the wire harness clips that are Cad plated. Assuming ( I know) the junction block screws would be the same finish the dash pad screws would be Cad plated. Sorry it’s not a direct answer but I am looking for the same info and that’s what I’ve come up with without a drawing or other amplifying information.

The SNL for GPW indicates "Raven", not so clear on the finish on the Willys part number. Will look some more when I get a chance.

I should have specified this time it's for a March '43 GPW but as my Oct '44 MB will also be done l later this year the info on MB's will be useful also.

My 1944 MB 356378 has it's original Dash Panel Pad and all of the original screws and clips. There may be traces of the original screw finish, it would require much disassembly of the Jeep to check them out.

Since I had original factory OD under the original firewall pad on this vehicle its obvious that the padding was installed after the tub was painted. Therefore, when viewed from the engine compartment, the finish on the screw heads would be noticable. If they had installed the padding before painting then this question would be a mute point.

I have all the original firewall padding fasteners off this truck but they are covered in a nice rust patina.

Joel, if you if you installed original hardware can I ask you to simply lift your hood and have you tell me what finish on the screw heads? No dissassembly required.

Screws have been painted over, but I do remember they appeared unplated, possibly due to patina.

And are your original screws plain or do they show signs of a finish? I can't tell by looking at the originals installed on my MB as I painted the firewall after reinstalling the body. 47 years ago.

You are absolutely correct! I was out late last night attending another U2 concert and I had to wake up early today so my brain was a little fried. If I had been more awake I obviously would have writen “moot”. Thank you for pointing out my error!

The original screws on my MB seemed to be in their natural finish before they lightly rusted. The speed nuts were originally blued but they too were a little rusted.

In a 15 May post, I had enlarged pics of the screws (after they had been wire wheeled to remove the rust) compared to current replacements. However, you would still get an idea of the screw finish as well as the difference in shape between original and replacement.
