Gravity feed?

Post by USAFpj » Wed May 09, 2018 5:53 am

I've had this can for a while, and just now getting around to researching it. I'm away from it, so getting dates and manufacturer is not possible.

The screw lid has (2) small nipples that protrude, and then (2) rubber hoses are attached to them. Does not look like a Bubba job, but doesn't look like the typical gravity feed set up commonly seen. The (2) rubber lines are not black woven fuel line, but yellow tubing?

Any guesses as to what it was used for?

Can't really make it out, but they may be a screw in adaptor for the 5 Gallon Gas Can.I have run across these over the years, they are WWII and fuel some sort of a burner kit, nothing to do with fueling vehicles. I still have one of these with printed tags wired to it. If I should see it I will post the information.
I found the type I have, it screws in and has a cam lever that is a shut off for a single tube.

Seems like that if this was a bubba project, the (2) metal tubes would have been the same size?

It's similar but not the same as the manufactured one I have. I tried to wash off the cloth instruction tag on mine, will try to decipher it tonite.

Strap it to the flat fender and hook up to your fuel pump? Looks like a nice rig for temporary running of an engine.

Looks like a home-made version of the fuel can adapter used in the military tent stoves:
