1942 NESCO Galvanized Jerry Can

Post by Rustman » Fri Mar 09, 2018 11:58 am

Scored this the other day. A mere $20!! Was excited to find my second galvanized can "in the wild". Later I've come to appreciate the unique slab sided feature to this. No "X".

Excellent find!

Obviously somebody or something caused a screw-up.
I would guess this was overlooked (if known), as we desperately needed equipment for the war buildup when this can was made.

Who knows how many were made like this, but you probably have the only survivor (if any others were even made).

Huh. I didn't realize it was THAT rare. Guess I'll be extra careful with it. Thanks! I appreciate the insight.

Yes it is that rare....so much that I had never heard of any can with flat side! Well done!

I'm very curious to see that. So far, and I'm not an expert by any means, but so far this is the ONLY can I've seen without the X reinforcing stamping on the sides.
