Thanks! So what should we look for if trying to find an original WWII manufactured one?

Actually there is no way to tell.Repros are only marked MP50 but govt. contracts have the manufacturers name.If it is current you can find the manufacturer on the web.

An original WWII MP-50 would not have been finished in 383 CARC paint like the one on the picture. Your going to be looking for something in either a 34087 or 24087 OD color. Most of these mounts were never date stamped and finding one with original painted markings is going to be difficult. Not impossible but these antenna mounts have been made by the thousands for the last 75 years so it's going to be the old needle in a haystack search.

Some of the WWII era MP-50's were painted in crinkle paint.

French refinished a lot of WWII MP-50 mounts in wrinkle finish. Most of the wrinkle finish MP-50's found today were refinished by the French.

So if I say "Oui" to the wrinkle MP-50 I have, it should come to attention?

For some reason the French painted almost all of the French made radio items and many reconditioned US items with the wrinkle finish.
