Radio Frequencies for the BC-659

Post by MkDorney » Fri May 18, 2018 8:06 pm

There is much discussion about what frequencies to use in the BC-659 radio. 29.6 MHz is a no brainer, as it is the FM Simplex frequency for the 10 Meter band. Some folks out in the Western USA use 29.4 MHz as the talk frequency, and get some pretty interesting propagation, but 29.4 MHz won't work Internationally because it is the satellite uplink used in Europe. In the article in Army Motors, I mentioned using 29.1 MHz as the talk frequency. 29.1 poses no problems in either Europe or the USA, so if I had to pick frequencies for the BC-659 radio, I'd stick with 29.6 and 29.1 MHz FM,
