WW1 Tank replica build
First post as a member of this forum! I don’t know what other section to post this in so sorry if it’s not the right one! I been working on this replica for a couple years on the side and I will have it finished by Veterans Day! It’s a running replica with drive sprocket and gears taken from a 1920’s tractor and powered by a Jeep L134 engine. A lot of welding and rivets to go but every week I try to make sure something is done! I’ve always been fascinated with ww1 and ww2 history so it will be nice to give people something to touch and see besides a black and white picture in there history books! I know it’s not exact but it’s my first time building one so I know the next will be closer and easier.

Fantastic job, hard to tell what you started with.
What state are you in?
Had a guy build a replica FT-17 here in Va. not ten miles from my house (used zero turn mower parts) and we didn't know about it till he pulled it out for a Newville, PA. reenactment.
Great job there, looks like you should be done soon. I have to get working on my Liberty, November will be here in no time.

Dang should of posted there! Thank you! Started with 1/4inch angle iron. It’s all steel and thickness ranges from a inch thick to 1/4 at its thinnest. I have a lot of suspension work to tackle and haven’t started installing the engine yet. But when I take time off I can work pretty fast. I’m in California.W. That’s pretty darn neat! Is the main gun propane fired? It seems to have an impressive muzzle flash.

It’s a 20mm bag gun, ignited by percussion caps. The barrel is a chopped down Vulcan and recoils back by about 6-8 inches. Pretty loud bang and muzzle flash, even rocked my truck a bit!

Made my deadline to make it looked finished for the veterans day parade but unfortunately was canceled do to all the fires here in California. Heres a few pictures of it on the trailer. I think i should have it moving under its own power by February or march.[imghttps://i.imgur.com/RPnSB62.jpg][/img]

Great project! Are you going to take it to the Camp Plymouth meet next April? That's the place to show it off. Do you know about the annual Spring swap meet/MV shows in California?

I’ve been to the one in tower park I think it’s called right next to the delta. I was thinking about the Plymouth one only 30 min away from me in El Dorado Hills. I don’t know about spring swap meets only this show in Plymouth.John Neuenburg wrote: ↑Wed Nov 14, 2018 12:23 pmGreat project! Are you going to take it to the Camp Plymouth meet next April? Re: WW1 Tank replica build
Camp Plymouth in Plymouth, CA is the 2019 location for the military vehicle swap meet/shows that have been in Petaluma for two years, Tower Park near Lodi for 13 years, and two other places since the 1970s. It will be April 16-21, 2019 at 49er RV Village and the adjacent Amador County Fairgrounds. Biggest annual military vehicle events in the West. Details have just been posted on the Events forum on the G. Click here:Moparman1968 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 14, 2018 5:24 pmI’ve been to the one in tower park I think it’s called right next to the delta. There is a rodeo arena at the fairgrounds where we will do two themed MV showcases on Friday. If you bring your tank you could exercise it in that arena with the steel track grousers. Maybe we could schedule demonstrations on the official activities schedule? It might be OK to drive it around fairgrounds dirt/grass areas. We have rented the fairgrounds for our dry camping village, visitor parking lot, and to get that arena for displays.
