Mermite container

I just got this container. All the ones when I was in army 62 to 64 were rectangle. I never say a round one. It is in rough shape. Can anyone tell by the info on lid about this. Any info appreciated.

It is a WWII era M1941 Mermite Container. Here is some information on the net:

Wow! Thats just about the roughest mermite I've seen yet... any of the three inserts inside??

Its pretty rough. But restoreable from the outside. I wish i had one.

From the photos, I agree. I've seen far worse, later restored.
As for the interior rust, hammerite finish spray paint does a good job replicating the finish that the food containers came in.
