WARNING: these bags are HIGHLY addictive. It could be worse: you could be providing him with custom materials to build a third bag. Yep, that would really be sick.

Rob was easy to spot at the Pomona show. I just looked for the guy towering over a pile of (cool) web gear detritus. His stand of sample bags was front and foremost and yes, they are remarkable. I would buy them while you can. I heard rumors that the L.A. garment district competition is planning on fire-bombing his sweatshop... once they figure out the airfare to "Monrovia".

Rob,

First time I am seeing this thread. Wow. These are THEE COOLEST things I have seen in this hobby in a loooong, long time. You have really tapped into something unique. It's like the crazy love child of a Re-Purpose movement hippie chick and an Army Surplus Store manager!

I will definitely be in touch about a laptop bag and a wallet - I don't care how long the backlog is.

If I send you some raw material, would you incorporate it?

Glad you think I'm onto something here.

I like your analogy. Its like when peanut butter met milk chocolate for the first time.

I think the hipsters have a new name for the 'hippie chick re-purpose movement' - 'up-cycling'. Although, I remember referring to this homemade gear made from other stuff as 'field expedient'.

I'm happy to work with whatever you wanna send. I've got a few custom bags in the lineup right now - some cool ideas from clever collectors out there.

PM me and we can work out details.

Thanks again for the kind words.

Thanks. I've already started gathering some stuff. And I have some ideas. The theme is "Signal Corps/ASA". :D

Cool.

Whats ASA? As in army security agency?

Anyway, I look forward to your notions.

Hi

Sold a bunch of bags at the recent West Coast Historical Militaria Collector Show a couple of weekends ago, and have had a chance to make a few more since then.

Image

Another bag in the ‘Willie and Joe’ series. Like its WWII namesakes, this tired old bag has seen some action – and survives with some ‘repairs’, and mishmash of parts. Gonna stencil this one ‘K Co. 180th Inf’ as a tribute to Bill Mauldin – that was his unit.

The bag with the LTD flap, and white silk parachute lining was customized with the 6 inch star and hood numbers at the request of a proud jeep owner.

Vietnam era ERDL camo bag – complete with ear plugs – for those really loud days at the firebase.

A Para-Marine bag – WWII parachute webbing meets a USMC camo shelter half.
Thanks

Rob L.

I have 4 of them. They are fantastic bags and high quality. I use one of the USMC bags as my daily laptop bag for work and it works great! Plus, its pretty cool standing in line for coffee and getting asked "What kind of strap is that" and you can answer "WW2 .50cal machine gun belt"

Great job Rob!

Mine is the one above with the star and jeep details. It just arrived in the post and looks even better in real life than the photos Rob sent me. It will live with the jeep forever - although i suspect that when my 21 yr old daughter sees it, she may want it to take back to University.......!!

Am going to go to the War & Peace show with it - usually use a Musette bag for collecting goodies but it has fallen apart. This will be much more practical!!

Nice work Rob....thanks

HI Andrew,

Very glad you're happy with your dedicated 'jeep and militaria shopping bag'.

When at War & Peace, if you encounter any of the 2nd Armored folks who worked on Fury please let them know "Uncle Rob" sends his best. They're a dedicated bunch. They bought up most of the left over ordnance props and crates that I made for that show, and from what I hear they put together a very 'well stocked' display.

If you can't part with your bag, and if your daughter MUST have her own...well...you know where to reach me!

thx

Rob L.

They look awesome and it's made think about buying a laptop now just so I can own one of these bags.

Hey Rob, I'm preparing the Messenger bag for a Normandy trip in a week.
I found the little strap in the center of the internal divider with the snap hook on it. I take it it's there to keep the front side of the bag from folding out in the middle. I've looked at it from several angles but I can't figure out where this is supposed to attach to the front of the bag.

[Edit] Ooooh, it's for attaching your key ring! My bad.
