Vehicle Markings

Post by thompsonbarrels » Wed Dec 21, 2016 7:03 am

Hello-
I'm not sure if this is the correct category to place this question or if even there is one to place it in, but here goes. In the immediate pre-WWII period, and or during the war, were there/ what were, any unit markings applied to military vehicles? Example, a military truck at Hickam Field, Oahu.

Thank you!

Thank you for your reply BD, can you suggest a source of finding that information?

again, thank you.

PS-
I have found AR 850 -5 and AR 850 -10, they are helpful, but they date August 1942, I would like to find 1941 information, National Archives?

Another thing to consider ... if you want to use your vehicle to represent diferent units during your time of Reenacting ... you might want to consider magnetic markings so you can change the markings with ease. I picked up a sheet of magnetic sign material from a sign place, I can then change the unit markings at will without having to repaint my bumpers.
