1919 carrying handle
Hi all, Would it be correct to have a carrying handle on the 1919? I have seen current pictures with it on but most of the time, it is absent. Also, what is the correct position? Some face the receiver and others the opposite? Thanks, Rob.

Re: 1919 carrying handle
The butt of the handle faces the receiver. The carry handle and buttstock (IIRC) make up the 1919a6. I’ve heard mixed reports as to whether it saw combat in WWII as a component.

Re: 1919 carrying handle
As Luke pointed out, the 1919 is a series of guns and only the A6 had the carry handle. The WW2 version was a simple wood handle with a steel mounting plate at each end. The second post war version was a wood handle similar to a Bren in shape which attached to a hinge and could fold down (but not locked into a position) along the barrel shroud. This was clamped into position where ever the user wanted it.

Re: 1919 carrying handle
As stated the correct A6 carry handle just slides and spins on the cooling jacket. There’s no way to stop it from sliding off a regular A4. The bipod collar on the A6 setup keeps it from sliding off.

Re: 1919 carrying handle
Thanks, All. I have a few extra handles and was thinking about putting one on my dummy 1919 but i want to keep it period correct, WW 2 , so now I think i won't put it on since they pivot and this means it is a post war handle.
