Found this along the road. Looks to be a towed, radar guided AA gun.

Thought it might be interesting to you guys.

I'm guessing that it is a soviet KS-19 or a variant of same.

Alfred,

You could be right, but all the wording stamped all over it was in English. I did not see a data plate though so not sure.

As I said, I'm guessing. However it's the best guess five minutes of research is going to get you  . I was looking through my trusty old copy of Land Forces of the World by Christopher Chant and the KS-19 looks real close. I then googled up the pic thats in the post. Something that was brought over from "wherever" and evaluated would probably had a good deal of it's labeling changed over to make basic operation easier. If this gun is close to where you live and you have a chance you might want to take a close look for stampings and manufacturers marks. Things that might be covered with many layers of paint. This might give a clue as to point of origin.

Technical specifications for soviet ks-19/ chinese type 59

Type: Towed 100mm AA gun mounting
Calibre: 100mm (3.94 in.)
Barrel length: 57.4 calibres overall
Muzzle brake: Multi-baffle type
Carriage: Four wheel platform with outriggers. No shield.
Weight: 9550 kg (21,054 lb) in travelling order
Traverse/elevation: 360 deg. total/-3 deg to +85 deg
Rate of fire: 15 rounds per minute
Horizontal range: 21,000 meters (22,965 yards) maximum
Slant range: 13,700 meters (14,985 yards) with proximity fused ammunition: 15

The weapon has on carriage fire control, but is generally used with 'Fire can' or 'Whiff' radars and appropriate directors.

It's a lot of pretty useless info, but maybe there is a gem in there that will help.

Hey guys

I was told by a retired Special Forces Lieutenant Colonel who spent a significant amount of time in the Mid East that the Russian's military equipment exports have all of their writing in English as it is more commonly recognized by the gaining countries than Cyrillic is.

Could be Russian
I am seeking information on M38A1's configured for MP use from 1953-?.

I am also interested in equipment and uniforms worn and carried by MP's during this timeframe.
