WE'RE HAVING A CONVOY

Post by Joe Gopan » Mon May 08, 2017 11:22 am

The REO 6X6 Gasser is a nice truck to drive, normally they buzz right along with plenty of pep unless heavily loaded. What sometimes occurs then at precisely 35 MPH convoy speed on paved highways is that the automatic sprag unit for the front wheel drive will engage and release at constant intervals at a half second frequency causing the cab to rock up and down.
The cure for this was to remove the front drive shaft during the convoy.
The Army went to air sprags on later Multifuel G-742's.

Any restored gas M-Series REOs out there? You don't know what you are missing.
