What is this USN vehicle?

Found this on the side of the road in rural CO. Sign said it's 1943, and for sale for $4000.00. I was in a hurry, and could only stop for these quick photos w/an IPhone:

Bomb truck. I have a friend who has three of them. I'll get more info from him and post again. The most interesting one he has came off a horse racing track used to pull the starting gate. It has been shortened and a boom added. The windshields fold down to allow driving under wings.

In my opinion the guy is reaching for the moon a little bit. I wouldn't pay more than $2K, and it would have to be running AND stopping under its' own power. The correct equipment to return it to a proper bomb service truck may be a little challenging to find. I would suggest looking at the other threads here that involve Ford GTB's and hook up with that crowd. They can be very helpful.

'preciate the input; I thought it was a bit high, especially given it's lack of parts. It's outside Silver Cliff, CO, if anyone's interested.
