Thank you guys, the kind words are always helpful in making this all happen.

I am continually amazed by the shear utilitarian feel of these old trucks. It is truly like driving a time capsule. A 1940's vehicle really feels like a machine much unlike the plush vehicles of today.

BTW, I have heard many times how poorly NDT's do in snow or rain. I really cant vouch for the rain comment but as for snow, my old Chevy with new pliable NDTS would climb a snowy slope just as far as my 1993 Ford dually with Maxxis buckshots all the way around. Truth or folklore about NDT's...I won't cast a vote yet.

Have fun in what ever you are doing.

Great looking ride you've got there, I'll bet she can carry a lot of firewood.

Great job on the truck. And all the documentation to go with it. You could make a book of it.What make and model is the dump box? The box looks like a GALION, wide skirts. I just looked at one on a G-506 NH.Looks like yours.Except it had a Galion hoist. It had a large data plate right in the center of the tailgate must of been 8"x 8".
I am familiar with a Hercules model D12S2 dump box.That model is on my NL and several i have seen photos of. They were fitted With a Hercules hoist Model KDS.The skirts on the Hercules box were not wide, as on a Galion . Perhaps Hercules made a wide skirt version of a dump box? Or?

Wow, I hadn't realized it has been so long since my last post on my build thread. Nothing especially note worthy going on other than "Audra" is now street legal. I am still ironing out some bugs such as clutch adjustment, brake adjustment, and voltage regulator adjustment (the operative word seems to be "adjustment").

Just for fun, the link below is a YouTube of Audra cruising yesterday...a beautiful day for a joyride!

You all have a great time out there!

Nice video Paul,
Looks like you're moving right along,Is it as loud in the cab as it was on my computer? Maybe i should turn down the volume. How is the double clutching coming? It must be easier to learn on the open road.

Jon,

I don't know if the sound is from the camera or your computer, but I would not say the cab is as quite and smooth as a Lexus. At the time of filming, it did not have a floor mat installed as the $95 piece of equine feculence floor mat I purchased from Jim Carter has already begun to become brittle and is rapidly falling apart. A floor mat greatly reduces the noise, but is still loud compared to a modern vehicle. With spinning gears many of them straight cut: at your feet, below your seat, and in the rear; there is a lot of sound generation.

Double clutching is still a work in process but I am doing okay most of the time. Driving them is a blast, and it gets lots of "thumbs up" from other drivers. I kind of got mobbed by spectators at the gas station. I don't think this is a decent vehicle to drive if you don't like talking to strangers as it draws a crowd.

Paul;
May I offer some advice, wear dark sunglasses at all times, even at night, as you have to look cool while driving your truck. Just saying...
