Those boxes are really nice and look great in the back of your truck.
You should stencil something on the sides of the grates like "Hand Grenades" or "Ammo" and Skull and cross bones on the ends.
That would get the attention of the other police. LOL

I failed to mention the charged cell phone and phone number for Hagerty's towing service. Cell coverage is still relatively spotty in some places around here and I like to be more self reliant when possible. Duct tape, hub socket, bailing wire, and electrical wire will be added. Few of the contents are correct military so if the Jeep police are around, I think the box lid will remain closed.

Jon, I thought about stenciling something as you had mentioned but considered it would attract unwanted attention to undesirables such as jihadists or anarchists not to mention cause concern for law enforcement. Unfortunately we live in crazy times, in fact this one dude thought I was part of the Cuban Army coming to take over the USA.

Took the truck on an approximately 50 mile trip yesterday, she seems to be operating well. The voltage regulator cutout switch still opens/closes causing the ammeter needle to dance when at idle, but the generator works as it should when driving at speed. After the trip, the battery voltage was 6.4 volts stopped, and 7.2 volts when running ~30 MPH. Double clutching is becoming more second nature...upshifts are easy now with just occasional problems with down shifts when climbing steep terrain.

Hope you all had some time to play around with something OD green.

Hello Paul,

My name is Jean Jacques, I am French and I live in Alsace, as you, I restore Chevy G7117 of 1944, I followed with big interest your newspaper of restoration of your G4112 and I appreciate the quality of your work.

If you allow I would have a question to know where have to buy to yourselves your firewall pad, because I need it for my G7117 and this part is not available in France,

Thank you for your answer and receive my salutations

Jean Jacques,

Contact John Bizal at Midwest Military. jbizal@midwestmilitary.net

He did a limited run of these, so I don't know if he'll still have any or not.

Sincerely,

John

Uh-oh! I've heard that this is how it starts. You get a couple of these trucks in close proximity, and somehow they start multiplying like rabbits!?!

It looks like someone took it all apart and then lost interest :? . It also looks like you had to supply the wheels, tires and front bumper to get her home :? . A new restoration thread sure would bring a little life to the G, it's been pretty quiet lately.

Yesterday we took a 60 mile journey to enjoy the fall leaves. I drove old Audra up a steep mountain incline with a relief from the river to the gap being at least a 2000 foot ascent. She made the dozens of switchbacks and 8-10 percent average grade with no problems.

That OD green really hides a truck in a summertime forest, but the cover is blown when in a sugar maple stand during fall.

Hope you all are having fun.

In spite of the inclement weather, Audra made an appearance. I am surprised how eagerly the engine started in 18 F degree weather, its like the engine wanted to run. The thick 120 weight oil in the transmission was another story as it took a while to cut through the molasses. The NDT's do pretty well in snow, hardly needed the front drive.

That is an amazing photo! That could be any forest road in Europe, and brings the Bulge to mind... appropriate, given the weather back east.
