Who Needs New Tracks for Their Halftrack?????

Post by scotty71 » Sat Oct 12, 2013 5:23 pm

I thought that I might get the ball rolling by starting this topic......

How many halftrack owners / restorers need replacement tracks either now or in the near future or who would like a set for later use / spares ?

The more numbers we have the better as someone reading this might see this as a viable business and take on the project of producing 'new' tracks.

Scott.

Yup. This might be the beginning of the end for halftrack restoration. It would certainly be unwise to start a restoration until this track availability and cost is settled.

If the cost was reasonable I'd be into buying another set of tracks,

I just threw a chunk of rubber off one of my tracks. I need one.

I received this message from Andre Witmeur, president of the Belgian Military Vehicle Trust:

I’m selling half trak tracks

New half track tracks similar as US WWII production

cost from 4000 to 6000 euros for a pair prices following availability & the quality

There is some shortage now, So many halftrack are running in Europe and each owner like to have a pair on It & spare tracks at home .

that Why the prices are growing up since 2years .

for information

since 2months I m in contact with a french rubber factory( working for the french army& making rubber pads for tank Leclercq )

to re manufacture new HT tracks repliqua of WWII , with modern rubber mixture(hight résistance)

right now I don’t know the quality & the prices & delivery time

possible to find today :

-NOS from french army are ok, but around 20-30 years old

-or The best one are coming from Israël fresh & better quality of rubber/see pics

Regards

What would everyone consider reasonably priced, for a set of tracks? I would not go over $3500.00 tops with shipping.

Hey don't forget us Cletrac guys!! Our tracks are of the same design as the half track but longer and with replaceable pads. When talking to a prospective manufacturer this needs to be brought up!!! This would add to the market for these new tracks and may help lower the cost overall.
Personally, I would be more than willing to end up with tracks without the pads as this would simplify the manufacturing----they would be the same design as the Halftrack--just extend the length to fit our toys.

Well so far we are up to @ 10 sets that are wanted.

That doesn't seem like very many I am sure there are far more halftrack owners who want some.

As this topic has had 330 views so far there must be more owners out there who are interested.

Scott.

My 1962 manufactured tracks (very hard rubber with lots of cracks, installed new) have 700 miles on them and they are just about smooth. I have a set of 1997 Israeli tracks that will be installed and once they are gone I will need a new set of tracks. By then I hope to be able to afford them. So that's where I am as far as needing a set of tracks. i.e. I don't need them just yet but I think I will in the not to distant future.
It wasn't me, I didn't do it.

hi
a dealer in europe had 60 sets 2 years ago and he sold all of them very quickly

most of half tracks owners bought sets to have spares

i think if there is a new production,it will not be a problem to sell them (if price is more crazy )
