I have a GPW that's been converted to 12 volts. The starter has a plunger on top of it, but the starter is missing something. I'm guessing a linkage for pushing in the plunger.
To start my GPW, I've had to manually push in the plunger.
Can anyone tell me how the linkage is set up? I'm guessing that someone here will be familiar with this type of starter, though I'm not sure what it was originally mounted on (model of jeep).
Any help is appreciated. I'm getting it rebuilt/repaired and I'd like to figure out what I need to have, to be able to start the jeep from the driver's seat, instead of opening the hood and pushing in the plunger.

Re: Question about a 12 volt starter
????????????
Would it be possible to post a picture ??
I am trying to envision exactly what we are dealing with.
Some starters had a switch on top with a spring loaded button that was pushed by a lever that had a rod attached.
Some starters had an electrically activated solenoid that was attached to a fork by a linkage. When the solenoid was activated, the linkage and fork engaged the starter drive and powered up the starter at the same time.
Need more intel.

Re: Question about a 12 volt starter
Got a number on the starter either a tag or cast on body?
