6 Volt Generator Identification? CJ?

I am restoring a 1945 Willys MB. The 6 volt generator on it is not correct. Someone suggested it might be from a CJ.

The codes in the casting on the generator body are:

G 685 and GGW-3

These are located seperately on each of the two ears of the cast generator body by the mounting bolts.

Would anyone be able to identify the generator type from those codes?

Thanks

CJ Generator is shorter than MB/GPW and will not bolt up to MB Bracket on the engine.

After measurement and fit up that seems right. The generator I have does not fit over the correct mounting bracket. Little short.

Does the casting codes seem right for this generator to be for a 40's or 50's 6 volt CJ?

Thanks for the info.

GGW generators where the next in line for jeep post war after the GDZ type. Both 6-volt civilian generators.

Autolite numbers but codes do not show up in service manual for jeeps specifically
