Springs

Post by Herb Tate » Wed Jan 31, 2018 7:15 am

Hello all,
I'm taking on the rebuild of a family friend/wife's boss's 1974 CJ5. I am starting with the suspension because it does have some broken springs. This jeep sees 95% off road service for hunting and I need help with choosing a good set of springs that will deliver years of service. It looks to have 8 leaf springs front and rear.
Thanks
Herb

I lost info on an old computer crash but there is a company in Michigan Detroit? that makes dead on spring replacements. I'll see what I can find

a set of aftermarket springs with 2 to 2.5 inches of lift would go a long way to improve off road ability and may be cheaper than rebuilding or using replacement springs. I had a 74 jeep cj5 with the 304 V8 and a small lift aided offroad ability quite a bit. Just my opinion
