My favorite was the Willys New England hard top, as it could be mounted, and dismounted in a matter of a few minutes.
I had several different hard tops over the years and the main bone of contention was that the bare metal construction acted as an amplifier for every little rattle, squeak and noise. And as we all know, every jeep has those in spades.
Plus the tendency of the hard top to fog up made operating the jeep on public roads a tad dangerous.
Having moved to California many years ago, these cabs are but a fading memory. These days I keep my canvas top up to keep the sun off, and I dispensed with doors and side curtains many years ago.

That's a new cab name for me. Koenig and Myers had deluxe versions with roll up door glass and larger windows. I had a couple new CJ-5's with the Willys factory Fibreglass roof. No matter what I had for cabs, canvas or metal, a good portion of my driving was done squinting thru yellowed plastic door windows or looking over my shoulder towards the rear as Jeep mirrors did not quite do the job. Wonder how I made it all these decades with no traffic accidents.

The CJ column shift I have at the shop now has an aluminum top. An aluminum formed top with reinforcing channels. Doors are gone.
I am pretty sure the owner told me the top came from Sears & Roebuck.
Did S&R make a top for a CJ ???

From what I remember, the roof of the Sears aluminum cabs have a convex profile when viewed from the side.

This one might have been convex at one time but it looks like the owners grand kids may have been up there, jumping up & down. Dead center. It has a definite concave look now. Not totaled but it pools water when it rains.
When the weather straightens up, I will look it over. See if I can find any tags.

Kids tend to make trampolines out of Jeeps, it never fails.

Yea! I know !! I have a grandson that has made it to the "Terrible 2s" and he is a classic. Wish I had half his energy !
Looked the top over. Still have not found a tag.
It is aluminum. Has angle supports on the inside. All top corners are rounded. Has a square window centered on each side panels.
Looks like it may have been shipped in three pieces. The top and the two sides bolt together.
The top was slightly rounded, before the trampoline incident. It is (was) slightly arched from back to front.
I will have a closer look for a tag. Some one made it and surely they was proud enough of it to claim it.

There were other very similar aluminum Jeep cabs back in the 40's-60's when CJ's roamed the highways. 1961 changed all that with the new Bronco and Scout, 4 Cy.l CJ Jeeps as we knew them started disappearing.
