Not a lot of CJ outfits out there. What was initially 6-8 weeks went over a year and no contact for 150 days just doesn't cut it no matter how good the quality is.

I ordered my GPW canvas for my '42 project at the 2013 MVPA Portland Oregon convention face to face with Mona. Still waiting I guess. I ended up getting it someone else. Love her work. Just wish it didn't take years to get the product.

Re: New Life Canvas saga
Wow, I thought maybe I was the only one. I purchased canvas for my CJ2A from them nearly 2 years ago and I also experienced everything described in the previous posts. The initial estimate I was given when I ordered it was 6 weeks. Ultimately, it took well over 8 months, and only after long periods of silence and repeated requests for updates. I am no complainer, nor am I an impatient person. I will gladly wait my turn, I just want an honest estimate in the beginning, and a little communication if it can't be met. I received neither. In the end, what I did receive is an excellent product, well made and well fitting. I just regret the hassle, and I can't say I would do it again.

I wonder if a guy took new life to small claims court repeatedly if they would change thier business model?

The wait is worth it. I've been waiting also.

Small claims is a waste of time in you are not in the same state and not having any other experience for this stuff, the consumer "protection" from Minnesota is a waste of time . Only way now days is social media and I don't engage in any of it. it is not worth the wait. She needs to cut of orders off when she exceeds her capacity. I would only deal with Beachwood Canvas maybe a little more money but quality seems good based on customers and they don't have a time problem.

Re: New Life Canvas saga
I gave Mona an original set of seat covers for my 63 CJ5 15 years ago to pattern and make, she said she would, I called her and talked to her, and she led me on for years. I finally gave up hope and decided get a set from the jeepster man. people complain about her all over the internet. I bought a top for my m715 from surplus city and it has lasted 10 years. so as good as her stuff is, there are other options.

Re: New Life Canvas saga
Its sad to see all these negative engagements with New Life, I drove to her shop a couple years ago and met with her, really nice lady, lives in the boonies and works from her shop there. We had a long discussion about her business, and its clear that getting help is a problem, most of what she was doing at that time she did by her self, no other employees. I just sent an email last week requesting some information on side curtains, no response, I guess that is the continued norm. Oh well.

Re: New Life Canvas saga
If you can't deliver in a reasonable amount of time then the wait is NOT worth it....one or two years or LONGER?
I just hope you guys didn't send in a deposit!
That way you could blow off a bad company (New Life) if and when you ever get some response back.
Forget that company...if enough people do, they might catch up and finish something for the poor guys who were naive enough to do business with them...the excuse about finding "help" does not fly. WeeBee Webbing is owned, operated and staffed by Mr. Pizzoferrato and the Mrs. as far as I know and they don't take YEARS to complete a job and you can actually contact them about your order if you want.....
Life is too short for that run-around...

Re: New Life Canvas saga
speaking about canvas.....what ever happened to the Reineke guy doing business as Friday Canvas. He did not leather Command Car seats that were very nice and then ripped me off for a set of M29 Weasel canvas top attachment parts (the metal bracket etc.) Tired to borrow $3000 and then when I said NO he quit communicating.....that was while back though

Re: New Life Canvas saga
Am guessing Jim has passed away. He had significant health issues from his service in Vietnam. When things were running smooth, there was no better product. His hardware was correct, and he had the market cornered on the special grommets that attach Jeep tops to windshields. Dealing with him could lead to frustration at times.
