Original Screws/Bolts/nuts

Post by nick peters » Wed Apr 11, 2018 10:32 pm

Hello Everyone
Do any of you have originals for sale/trade? I'd like to get the 3/4"-16thdx4" ( Safety chain to draw bar bracket) screw and castle nut. And the 3/4"-16thdx3 3/8" (Support bracket to draw bar bracket pivot bolt) screw and castle nut. Either or ideally both if possible please? :) I'm also interested in any of the other trailer screws and castle/hex nuts. Have willys/gpw original bolts for trade. Or happy to buy.
regards Nick

Nick,
If the military hardware is like the civilian Bantam T-3C, those bolts have an unusually tall hex head - completely different from what you find at a hardware store.

I took my buggered bolts into a machine shop and asked what they could do. I ended up with two new bolts turned from 1" hex stock, complete with cotter pin holes drilled.

If no one has spares they're willing to let go, I'd suggest this. I suspect after painting it would be hard to tell the difference.

Russ
Thanks for suggesting that. It's an option if I don't find originals :)
