Maxon quad mount

Post by hummermark » Thu Mar 29, 2018 8:43 am

Hi the quad mount electric motor data plate on the electric motor says it is 100 amp but when I put a clamp on amp meter on the cable it is reading 180 amp?
This gauge reading is taken with the motor running idle not powering any function.
The belt pulleys you can turn by hand easily so nothing appears to be binding and motor or cables do not get hot.
If anyone could or has measured there current draw it would be useful to see if that 180 amp is normal or if I have a fault?
I also put the power leads direct from battery to the terminal strip for motor pig tails same reading.
All functions work fine and smooth.
Thanks mark
