BEEN THERE DONE THAT

Post by Joe Gopan » Tue Mar 27, 2018 8:07 am

I usually drove a soft top JEEP to school. There were a few times in -20F weather that I had take 1 gallon paint can filled with sand and gasoline and place it under the oil pan to warm the block. On of my neighbors had a towing service . It was a 1927 Lasalle Wrecker with wood spoke wheels and hand crank cable. I can still hear the gear noise from that truck as he shifted.
KATs Engine Heaters were a popular item, especially the Head Bolt Heaters for JEEP.

Would I be guessing right in saying the jeep was an VEC CJ-2A and not a WWII surplus ?

I drove CJ's (new and used) to school, installed Fisher Snow Plows on CJ-2A thru CJ-5 after school. Made good money installing them, it took 4 Hours and I got $20.00 for the job. When the shop was full I laid on the snow to install them. Enjoyed every minute as we were Fisher's first dealer and Mr. Fisher visited us often.
