Old military vehicles ousted from ANZAC Day parade
Cars made before 2010 will be banned from this year’s ANZAC Day Parade, the RSL citing emissions and safety as the main concern around older vehicles.
Brigadier Michael Annett, CEO at the RSL Victorian Branch, told Neil Mitchell no cars older than 2010 will be allowed in the march unless they’re ‘compliant’.
“We’ve had some concerns for a few years in terms of emissions from older vehicles,” Brigadier Annett said.
“The fumes are a worry.
“A lot of these vehicles have to idle for large periods of time and that affects not only those people who are standing directly behind these cars in the march and also the people who come to watch.
When Neil said without old vehicles the parade would lose some of its romanticism and colour Brigadier Annett said he “puts safety before colour”.

Maybe all the ANZAC vets from before the 2010 date of "compliance" should boycott the stupid parade and take their vehicles and mates to some "alternate" location? In fact, maybe private owners of MVs should too....you know, kinda leave 'em without much more than currant service personnel?
By the same token, no busses or private autos should be allowed to attend if they were built before 2010!
...suppose they had a parade and nobody came to be IN the parade?

Unbelievable.
Next, and I say this thinking that it couldn't happen, they'll require no uniforms or military personnel be present for the parade. Well, you wouldn't want to make anyone uncomfortable, would you?

Just another click bait article that covers selective rather than complete info. Also known as fake news that was not highly reported here.
Someone who has never seen active service knows nothing about such comradeship.
This march has never been about vehicles or showing off restorations of period vehicles.
It would be good if vehicles were not required @ all but they are used specifically to include some of our mates, who are unable to march but still want to show their respects.
The rest of the story of this non 'rinky dink' show off military vehicles parade....

A stupid, offensive comment about our ANZAC memorial/ceremonial service & march to commemorate our fallen military comrades.Chuck wrote:should boycott the stupid parade

Re: Is this for real? No jeeps in ANZAC Day Parade?
I have the highest respect for all Vets. However if the ANZAC parade excludes pre 2010 MVS then that is stupid. Don't confuse the two....don't you, as a Vietnam vet think that's stupid? You may be able to walk, but the WWII and KW Vets and those disabled would be forced to ride in busses or on haywagons.....rather than hitch a ride on an MV.
IF that happeneD to most US Vets day parades, they'D be a lot shorter and a much smaller audience would show up
....so yes. Those would be stupid parade decisions.
