both rear tool boxes look in good condition and minimal work needs to be done. not bad for a body over 70 years old.

I'm having a heck of a time trying to find any numbers on the body. I have checked where they should be but aren't there.

You have it backwards for early tubs; after ACM tubs were used, they all had round holes. Your Bubba bumper isn't too bad. My 2A came with a chunk of 8-inch wide channel steel welded on for a front bumper. Musta weighed 50 lbs. by itself!54WYLLYSJEEP wrote:correct me if I'm wrong that on the rear tool boxes the bodies that have the round holes are an indication of a Ford body and the square hole I believe is a WILLYS body
It's funny too that way back when, people tried to put a tailgate in a WWII jeep to make a CJ and more recently, people have been making WWII jeeps out of CJs.
Is it true real Jeeps have flat fenders?

All pure Ford tubs didn't have a body number, just Willys and the composite tubs.tractor12 wrote:Your body is to early to have numbers
Heh 54, yes those two box's are for the shocks, and the floor should be like that. Your body could be original to your chassis. If you are going to use this tub, and replace the rear panel, it should have a Ford Script one.

I have no idea what year the tub is. could it be a pre-war tub?

I don't know a whole lot about the Ford tubs at this time. learning here and there.Fortyeight2A wrote:You have it backwards for early tubs; after ACM tubs were used, they all had round holes. the front bumper didn't mess up too much on the frame which is nice to see. not much work with a sawzall to cut it off and repair from there.
my 2A frame that I was going to make had a huge piece of channel on it. the frame ended being so thrashed we cut it up. only thing salvageable was the battery tray and motor mounts.

Dave
I don't think the frame is original to the body the guy I bought it from has had it for years but he could have forgotten. the body has sat in his storage unit for years. I prodded him to go there and see what's inside the units he has. from what it looks like I will have to replace the floorpan since the transmission hump has been cut away by the previous owner that my friend bought it from.
I have been looking for a "F" script rear panel I haven't found one yet. It is my intention to put one on it if I can find one. overall the body is in great shape considering how old it is. the bed liner stuff did one thing for it stopped a lot of rust. if you know of a vendor that has "F" script rear panels please let me know.
I did some more looking on my frame and found the "F" script on the gun mount but it looks like the factory drilled a hole right through it. the "F" script is also on the cross member for the gun mount.
I'm very excited to work on this project. I wont be able to do much since I will be out of state this year. but it will be waiting for me while I'm gone.

Hi 54,no it's not pre war, that type of tub was made by Ford from jan 1942 until late 1943 when they went to the composite tub.54WYLLYSJEEP wrote:[

Ron has a script panel, http://www.vintagejeeps.com/p-1019-ford ... 2758f.aspx This will be an MDJ made in the Phillipines. , Jay whose username is memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=34924 I think, sells the British made panel by Joes Motor Pool.
54, it will be a learning curve. I only wished that there was the internet and a site like this and Tom's site when I got my GPW in 1983 The good thing was my jeep was all ready for the road, minus some correct items
All the best, Dave
