You know, Mike, a mind is a terrible thing to waste and old vets can be a good resource. I have been very lucky to have good contacts over the years who shared Jeep knowledge and attention to detail, it paid off in spades at the Army service schools.
I have been obsessed too. Would you mind painting my barn or mowing my lawn while I research these little Willys 5272 screws? Have you contacted all the known present dealers to see if they do not have a Willys marked box of the WO-5272 (no A- prefix) screws squirreled away? Stranger things have happened as some dealers have nice little goodies like these.

I have a pretty good track record with long time collectors, MV restoration shops and major old time dealers from yesteryear who practiced a two way street and in turn helped with the small stuff.
Have cut back on it in recent years.

Joel,

If your applying I wanted something for nothing your wrong. I never want to get anything for free. People deserve something for their efforts. I didnt expect an answer from you. I just wanted to here about your 7 decades of non-stop MV exerpience again. Sorry but the bragging and belittling of others attempts at factory restorations was getting old. I guess as a 33 year old kid I will never be able to restore an accurate MB eventhough my family has been around MVs for 6 non-stop decades.

Next time you see Chuck Yeager, ask him what color the radiator hoses were, did they have the stripes on them and were they white or red. In fact, ask any of those GI mechanics you are so fond of when the change from rubber firewall grommets to felt was for GPWs and MBs, then ask them who made the NDTs on their MB or GPW, and ask them what the serial number and DOD as well as the USA number was on "their" jeep. Ask them who made the wrenches for "their" MB or GPW tool kits. Oh yeah, ask them if they had animal hair in their seat cushions or S-springs and if the front/rear seats had a zippered compartment and which way the zipper opened and closed and where the pull was when it was closed.

I'm sure they'll have each and every one of the answers on the tip of their tongues and the answers will all be the same, right?

...and they will agree with YOU.

Joel, if I’m ever up your way again for a few days I’d be glad to help you mow or paint....just let me go shopping with my work credit afterwards!
