while restoring my FORD GPW in the Black Forrest the Jeep garage is restoring an original Schwimmwagen from the Wehrmacht.
The Germans left the car behind in south Italy, after servicing in an Italian fire brigade an olivary farmer bought the car in the fifties and packed the car full of olives. The virgin olive oil preserved the car totaly, only underneath there was a little rust.
The restorer wants to use the original cable control brake but did not find parts for it.
Cheers Uwe

Re: Restoring a German Schwimmwagen
Amazing condition! We are always being told olive oil is good for us!
I would have never thought of it as good for a Schwimmwagon
Bill.

I believe that is a kennedy right? Much easier to get its parts than a Mcarthur. Getting originalwheel is one of my next plan in restoring my jeep. Will post pictures once installed.
