In-Tank fuel Pump DEAD....

Post by graffspee » Fri Feb 16, 2018 9:12 am

The fuel pump in my '63 M-151 is apparently dead. Spent a few days troubleshooting and got around today to hooking it up to 24V power source and it did nothing at all . Now I have to find a replacement ( which they seem to be hard to find or cost $600) or try and figure out another way to get the fuel flowing. I know some have used other 24v pumps in-line to the carb but from what I have been able to read not a lot of details on it and a few saying it does not work well. Also seen people saying just replace the vacuum Pump with a A2 pump which would be redoing the fuel lines to the carb. Bending fuel lines is something I am not at all good at so that makes that a big problem for me.....It figures if something had to break it would be the Fuel Pump....

Mr. Recovery is pretty close to you. He is on this site but I don't know how often he checks in. Keep trying on the 838 and if you get on shoot him a PM and I am sure he would be glad to give you a hand.

Ok. Thanks....I will keep trying the g838..There is an MVPA event here next weekend so I am hoping maybe to get lucky and find a fuel pump there. If not I suppose I will look at trying a different electric pump set-up until I can get the right one....

The trick is to mount the pump lower than the fuel level which is tough in a mutt but the footwell is the best place plus the fuel line is right there. As is the original wire you can use to power it.
