Valve cover oil dripping

Post by chrisioan » Fri Dec 15, 2017 8:10 pm

Hi everybody
I am looking to find a product to seal the valve cover on the engine block. Oil is dripping from the gasket. I assume the product should be compatible with the cork seal. If anyone knows anything suitable please let me know.

Permatex or Loctite No. 3 Aviation sealer. Do not overtorque as that is where most problems arise.

Understand how system parts interact with one another. GOOD parts can then be established & the NOT GOOD problem/s part/s isolated for repair or replacement.

And the valve cover has a recess that the gasket sets in, this recess also overlaps the lip on the head so if it is bent it may sit on top of the lip on the head, usually on the inside where you can't see it, in which case the gasket is not contacting the head. Be sure to move the valve cover around a bit to feel that it is fully seated on the head.
