M151 serial number/history

Post by woodto » Mon Nov 13, 2017 4:46 pm

I have an a2 with dash plate number 02D13173-23091 and bumper markings 82ABN 82X. And C-5.
Any way to figure out its service history?

Was considering painting it tan. I saw one with a tan soft top online-any clue where u would find a tan top and side curtains? Thanks. Tim

There is a guy on Steel Soldiers who can track down some, not all, but some vehicle histories. It is no longer Carnac, someone else took it over and I am not sure who. M-151's are very hard since they have no real serial number. The number you have is the military assigned number but not the vehicle VIN number. The unit assignment will also be tough since everybody seems to want to put either Airborne or Special Forces units on their vehicles. Do you know for sure that those markings came from it's time in service?

Bumper markings look very original. Will post a photo. If you do find the vendor for tan tops pls let me know!

We had tan ones, painted on post, in the 24th ID, in the early 80s; they went with units going on Bright Star. My company didn't go. Almost impossible to get service history for any vehicle.
