M151 rear shaft question

Hi, I have a rear driveshaft (propeller?) that I received with my Mutt, the driveshaft was off the Mutt, so I don't know if it was the original one... The driveshaft has the yoke attached and the yoke has a sleeve attached to it that makes the diameter of the yoke, in my opinion, too large to fit into the rubber seal that it attached to the rear of the transmission. I am tempted to cut off the sleeve around the yoke, but I wanted to get an experts opinion... I have attached photos through a google photo link, and would appreciate any advice...

I added a link to google photos so you can see the full res photos instead of stripping them down to use on the site.

Thanks,

Steve

That is a wear sleeve, they come in the tranny seal kit, the replacement seals has a larger ID which required a wear sleeve.

OK, I suppose I'll have to order the different sleeve gaskets and see which one fits, then replace the existing one...

I bet yours has the newer seal, have you tried to install it? put a little grease on the end of the yoke and try to manipulate it in, don't just shove it in and damage seal, never hurts to replace those seals, plus, the one on back of the tranny is easy to replace.
