Hi all.
I am new here and have just purchased M38 number 47607. She was imported here (UK) last year, and previously resided in California. And ongoing restoration is planned. Be prepared for many questions! Just one for now, it seems someone has used the battery box as a BBQ. Is this normal?

Maybe an attempt at burning off the bituminous coating. The tray is missing.
Wouldn't make very good BBQ by my standards

Or an electrical fire. The Army also had a black battery box paint and the residue could be from that.

Well I have started to take her to bits! The wiring is a nightmare, the starter has been changed to 12v, and an alternator fitted. I think I will stick with 12v, the temp guage is a 'mechanical' unit as is the oil pressure guage but this has never been connected as the electric sender is still there. Everything so far has come undone quite easily.
