correct carburetor

Hi folks,
My "A1 has an Indian built CJ3B engine with Lucas distributor and Solex carb. Can someone tell me the correct Carter carb, and distributor please? I will then post on the WTB site.

Carb should be Carter YS950S. Sorry too many model numbers. Got confused!

Assuming you want an M38A1 carb and not a CJ3B one, you want a YS950, side draft. Scout was telling you the one for a CJ3B.
Distributor, you need a 24 volt, internal coil, waterproof, made for the M38s and A1s.
Just post that you want them for an M38A1 and guys will know.

Is your M-38A1 still 24 Volts and are you trying to return the Jeep back to GI Issue condition. The YF Series Carburetors were used on Civilian "F"-Head, the YS-950 Series were used on M-38A1. Both are down draft.

I call YS637 and 950 side drafts because they suck air in from the side; ok, they are not technically side drafts. The guts are down draft. But the one you need for an M38a1 restoration is curved on top whereas the civilian ones are flat on top. . You know what I mean.

Hi folks, thanks for your replies. I am wanting to return my Jeep to GI'ish state, so the YS950 is the one for me. My Jeep is currently 12 volt and given ease of parts supply to keep her rolling here in the antipodes I will probably stay with 12v. I suspect Walcks have good 12v distributors so I may go that way.
