Hi,
I would like to keep my old style Auto-Lite voltage regulator for the original appearance, but it is not working.
Until I can find a working Auto-Lite VR, I was thinking about a conversion to an electronic regulator.
Has anyone ever taken the printed circuit from the solid state VR and put it in the early cast housing?
Here is an internet picture of the insides to a solid state unit and my Autolite.

Re: Voltage Regulator Conversion Question
I have a solid state regulator in my M38 and a Autolite mechanical regulator in my M38A1 - both work great. I also have a spare mechanical regulator. The mech units can be adjusted - there is more information over at www.willysmjeeps.com in the "Downloads" section. About the solid state regulation - there may be different types - but I think most have been filled with a silicone-like material to protect the innards. There is no taking the guts out - they are inside a solid block of material. That's also why they can't be repaired.
