Hi folks,
I have just acquired a 1952 NEKAF M38A1. The horn button seems to be fully intact, and switch is in place at the base of the steering box but the previous owner has bypassed the system. My question is, are the switches available?
I have done a search but haven't been able to come up with one.
I did see that there is a horn button kit available that replaces the switch push rod and switch and wondered how successful these were?
Cheers
Ian

Re: Horn Switch
when i first got my m38a1 the horn didn't work but everything was in place so it should have been functional. this is what i did to fix it. remove the rubber horn button protector on top of the steering column, just screw the horn plate that's attach to the rod running down the center of the column until the plate sits a little above the column. in my case that fixed it and i now have a horn that works. hopefully yours is that simple.

Re: Horn Switch
Thanks for this. Alas I removed the steering wheel nut yesterday to discover the push rod was missing so a switch wont fix the problem. Sigh!
O well I will go with the button kits on eBay.
Many thanks for your reply.

The switches are available in the US from a number of jeep parts suppliers. Try Midwest Military www.midwestmilitary.com - I replaced the horn switch, rod and button for my M38.

Dear Ian,
Good to hear that Nekafs even found their way to New Zealand! (Great country / Been there!)
If you are interested in the military history of your car, please let me know your MD frame number and maybe I can help you.
