Voltage Regulator Help

Post by dlevy » Sat Mar 17, 2018 8:42 pm

Hi,

Does anyone know for a source for voltage regulator repair?

My voltage regulator is the original mechanical style (which I would like to keep as original), but it is over charging when the engine reves above idle.

It is very clean inside without any corrosion. After burnishing the contacts, there is no change in performance.

Thanks,
Dave

Not familiar with your model but CVR looks similar so this write-up will possibly help:

Understand how system parts interact with one another. GOOD parts can then be established & the NOT GOOD problem/s part/s isolated for repair or replacement.

If you want reliability, install a GI Issue solid state. Those adjustments under the cover are for trained technicians and are normally done at the factory or at a depot rebuild facility. Once these Regulators accumulate enough miles the components wear and those adjustments may work if you are lucky but you may find yourself constantly under the cover tweaking it as it exhausts its normal lifespan.
